Machinist – Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

  • Salary: Starting salary of £11,154, increasing up to £23,000
  • Duration: minimum 15 months to 4 years
  • Reporting to: Technical Training Officer/ Apprenticeship Coordinator

Job Purpose:

  • Our apprenticeship programme offers personalised learning in a structured environment whilst providing employer led Engineering qualifications
  • Apprentices will gain experience in the set up and operation of all machines in our factory
  • A machining apprenticeship is designed for those who are seeking a career in engineering or manufacturing
  • Our Skilled machinists create precision parts which are used across the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Medical and Maritime sectors

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 4 GCSE’s at grade ‘C’ or ‘4’ or above, including Maths, English  and Science, or the equivalent
  • Capable IT skills and experience of Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Candidates must be able to travel to Huthwaite, Sutton in Ashfield on a daily basis

 What the SPE ideal candidate looks like:

  • Have an active interest, or some work experience within a Engineering/ Manufacturing environment, ideally within the Oil & Gas, Nuclear / Defence, Motor Sport or aerospace sector
  • Commitment and dedication to study on one of the industry’s most advanced apprenticeship schemes to gain a Level Three Apprenticeship Standard
  • Have a proactive approach to learning and the ability to manage work and study
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude and ability to show initiative
  • Ability to approach tasks methodically and have good problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality
