Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Job purpose:

To add value through effective and efficient management of a range of Supply Chain categories from both direct and indirect areas of supply, ensuring prompt delivery to meet demands of the business whilst controlling costs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring continuity of supply, through purchase of goods and services in line with demand for predefined supply chain categories, this will include but not limited to, Stationery, clothing, goods for resale and components for assembly
  • Manage the total workflow of goods for resale, from assimilating customer requirement, sourcing the supply options, quoting to the customer, placing P/O’s, ensuring timely delivery, internal processing and facilitating outbound logistics to our customer
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions through the MRP system
  • Ensure all purchases comply to specification and are fit for purpose
  • Professional management of Supply Chain relationships including efficient and effective communication via e-mail, telephone or face to face meetings
  • Effective and efficient management of Supply Chain performance for predefined categories
  • Provide timely and accurate updates to customers via e-mail, telephone or face to face meetings to ensure on time delivery of goods purchased for resale
  • Effective communication to internal stakeholders in relation to supply chain queries/concession requests, price variations, deliveries and issues of non-conformance
  • Support the Purchasing Manager in the deployment of Supply Chain Strategy
  • Support the continuing development of departmental KPI’s
  • Facilitate new supplier engagement and account creation
  • Uphold the business values.

Essential requirements:

  • Educated to A Level (or equivalent)
  • Strong team player, able to collaborate well with colleagues to produce timely and cost effective results to complex challenges
  • Numeracy and literacy skills, ability to produce professional written correspondence, interpret technical information and compare a range of Supplier quotations
  • Basic ability to read technical specification and drawings
  • Basic understanding of workflows within a production environment
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, actively seeks and develops own knowledge
  • Organisation skills, with good time keeping and being able to prioritise a full workload

Desirable requirements:

  • Educated to degree level
  • 1+ year working within a Purchasing function, ideally within Engineering
  • CIPS Level 4 (or interested in working towards)
  • Experience with dealing with supply chains
  • Experience in using MRP platforms
  • Full clean driving license.
